AI for online education
AI that makes online learning better, not just faster.
I help online education teams put AI to work across the whole learning journey, from a student's first enquiry to the moment they finish.
The goal isn't to churn out more content. It's a learning operation that keeps its quality while AI takes on the repetitive work.
What I do
Most AI tools promise courses, faster. That's the small part.
The bigger question is everything around the content. Which parts of the work a smart system can take on by itself. Which parts it should help your people do. And which parts must stay firmly human, because judgement and care are the whole point.
I work out where those lines sit for your operation, design the system that respects them, and build it into the way your team already works.
Think of it as the plumbing behind good AI, not another shiny tap.
Where the real decisions sit
When AI output feels generic, the fix is usually higher up.
Most people reach for a better tool or a cleverer prompt. Often that's the wrong place to look. There are three layers, and the order matters.
What good learning looks like
The pedagogy. The decisions only educators should make.
How the system is put together
The architecture. The part I design and build.
Which AI model does the work
The tool. The part everyone tends to fixate on.
Get the top right and the rest falls into line. Start at the bottom and you're back next month with the same problem.
Who I work with
People who run learning at scale and have moved past playing with the tools.
Deans and directors of online education. Heads of digital learning inside universities. Teams running online programmes, whether in-house or with a partner. And learning leaders in regulated industries, where "the AI got it wrong" is not an acceptable answer.
If that's you, we'll get on well.
A bit of background
Seventeen years in learning, now spent on what AI changes about it.
I came up through learning design, across universities and global companies. Most recently I co-led AI enablement sessions at BCG, taking hundreds of people through hands-on sessions with Claude. I build on Anthropic's Claude, and I hold its architect certification.
Writing
I think this through in public.
Short pieces on building AI into the learning workflow, in plain terms. The latest: The wrong layer.

The site is young. The work is well underway.
The clearest way to see how I think is to read what I write, then send me a line. No pitch, no pressure.
